Bargrennan to Clatteringshaws (Craigenbay)

The SUW has a reputation for long almost unmanageable sections; however, this need not be the case. We split the two sections from Bargrennan to Dalry and Dalry to Sanquhar into three if not four days to make them more manageable, see below:

The section from Bargrennan to Dalry (24.3 miles / 39.1 km) has previously been promoted as one long section, however, this can be reduced.

It is also recommended to consider at this point the next section from Dalry to Sanquhar as the most common itineraries split these two long sections into three or four days requiring vehicle support services from pre arranged ‘Pick up Points’ and therefore requiring additional nights’ accommodation in Dalry.
