Route Description
A walk through open country and forest plantation. Start at the large lay-by on the A702. Find the first Southern Upland Way fingerpost and follow the waymarked route through the forest. At the public road, turn right to reach the reservoir, left to visit the large earth-fill dam. At the time of its 1956 opening by Queen Elizabeth, this dam was the largest of its kind in Britain. The reservoir supplies water to towns in Lanarkshire.
