For walkers heading directly home after walking to Cockburnspath Greenhope can be the last night’s accommodation and we look forward to making this the best night of your whole journey.

Greenhope is situated 5.5 miles beyond Longformacus and just a stone’s throw across the Whiteadder river from the Way (1.5 miles north east by taking the road from Ellemford).

Abbey St Bathans is 5 miles away via the same road route but it is possible for walkers leaving Greenhope to keep to the north side of the Whiteadder River via an established local walk to join up with the SUW in Abbey ST Bathans (1.5 miles).

Lauder to Greenhope: 19.5 miles

Greenhope to Abbey St Bathans via Ellemford: 5 miles
Greenhope to Cockburnspath via Ellemford: 15 miles
Greenhope to Abbey St Bathans via north of Whiteadder River: 1.5 miles
Greenhope to Cockburnspath via north of Whiteadder River: 11.5 miles

Greenhope can offer an alternative to managing these sections of the way and vehicle support can be provided (by prior arrangement) to assist walkers with these sections.

Accommodation is limited in Longformacus and unfortunately there is nothing available in Abbey St Bathans so Greenhope offers a solution for accommodation for those to walking these sections.

Green Hope nestles in the quiet seclusion of the Whiteadder river valley in The Scottish Borders. Once a traditional stone built cottage, now thoroughly modernised & very spacious and comfortable; the windows open onto the sparkling river, a country lane and woodland walks teeming with wildlife.
